Music Recommendations

Updated: Apr 30, 2024

Alright, let's talk about something that really hits home for many of us: music. You know, Plato, the OG philosopher, once said, "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything." And man, was he onto something! Music isn't just background noise; it's the conductor of our emotions, the beat to our life's rhythm.

In this list, I'm excited to share some of my favourite musical discoveries that resonate deeply with me. From groovy beats to soulful melodies, these artists and YouTube channels have found a special place in my heart.

Foster Ebayy - As a dancer, Foster creates the most groovy music with lyrics that make me dance and feel grounded. His song “No Pressure” is my favourite as I tend to feel like I have to accomplish so much in one day, crushing myself with pressure.

Tyla Jane - I feel like Tyla Jane only creates bops. Her music is perfect for dancing, whether it's full-blown jazz, hip-hop, or heels dancing. I can’t choose a favourite because they all are awesome! They are perfect to sing along and feel on top of the world.

Shylah Ray Sunshine - This was one of the first artists I was introduced to who had touching lyrics. A personal favourite is “Guidance” - when I feel a bit lost trying something new or in a situation when I feel out of control and confused.

Peter B. Helland - Beautiful instrumentals that I use as background music in my life. The songs make

me feel like I'm in a cottage in the middle of a meadow, living in sync with nature. “Deep in the Forest” is a personal favourite.

Melan - I was so surprised when I saw that Melan wasn't super famous! Her music is perfect when you are in a brooding mood. Ideal for days when I have low energy but feel creative or inspired. My go-to song once I’ve had a good breakdown or crying session is “FULL MOON.”

Zii - I usually use Zii’s music when I am working out as it gives me a mental boost to push through the whole workout. All the songs have affirmations for different elements of your life like confidence, energy, productivity, money, and more.

Inner Lotus Music - This is a powerful YouTube channel that creates meditation music. I think it's important that we are careful with what we are letting ourselves be influenced by, especially in a high-vibration state when meditating. This one was recommended by a friend, and now I use it every day.

All the recordings have a particular frequency and intention, so it gives us a chance to ground that intention in our meditation. “Let the Universe Help You” is one that I use the most, and it charges me up so much that I use it for deep focus work as well.

Chantress Seba - I was very grateful when I came across Chantress Seba on Instagram as she has some beautiful recordings made in nature. A powerful tool to use when meditating.

The following are some more artists that I enjoy and are worth mentioning:

Of course, I still listen to a lot of mainstream artists and still learn choreographies to pop or hip-hop songs. Different songs are for different vibes and intentions. I'm looking forward to sharing more music and hoping to hear some of your suggestions too in the comments!
